Free Cover Letter Checker
Most cover letters fail on structure, not talent: too long, no greeting, a placeholder left in, the same word forty times. Paste your letter and this checker scores the bones of it — length, greeting, paragraphs, closing — and tells you exactly what to fix. It never rewrites your words; the facts in a letter have to be yours.
Nothing you paste here is stored or shared. The checks are plain rules, run the same way every time — no AI, no invented feedback.
The checks
Example phrasing — structure only
Greeting: “Dear Hiring Manager,” — or name the team: “Dear Customer Service Team,”
Opening: “I am writing to apply for the [role] position. In my current role at [employer], I [one true thing you do that this job needs].”
Closing: “Thank you for your consideration. I would welcome the chance to discuss how my experience fits your team.” Then a sign-off line: “Sincerely,” and your name.
The brackets mark where YOUR facts go. Structure can be borrowed; experience can't.
Want the letter written for the job?
Every Résumé Tailor application includes a cover letter built for that posting — from your résumé only, in this exact shape: greeting, evidence, closing. Your experience, aimed properly. Gaps are flagged, never filled.
The score reflects deterministic structural rules — length, greeting, paragraph shape, closing, leftover template text, word repetition, first-person balance. It is an honest measure of the letter's structure, not a prediction of any employer's decision. Your pasted text is checked in your browser's request and is never stored by this checker.
